Teaching
To help people achieve their writing goals, Judy uses three different frameworks: Individual Mentoring, Classes, and Writing Retreats.
Individual Mentoring
Writers who are stuck at any stage of the writing process turn to Judy for help in breaking through writing barriers and moving to the next step on the continuum from faint idea to publication. She works on-line, by phone, or in person, with frustrated, beginning writers, blocked emerging writers, and nervous professional writers who are preparing manuscripts for publication. You, the writer, set the pace, from one consultation to years of informal contact. The hourly rate is fair and payable by check in NIS, USD or GBP.
Judy has been one of the midwives for the following books
published before 2010:
The Rabbi’s Daughter by Reva Mann, Random House
Let’s Congress by Dov Teeni, self-published
Girl for Sale: Stories of Vision and Courage by Faigie Heiman, Navon Publishers
She has midwived the following books that will be published after 2010:
Into the Light: Uncovering My Mother’s Life in Hiding
by Dr. Diane Wyshogrod, SUNY Press
A Zionist Among Palestinians
by Hillel Bardin, Indiana University Press

Classes
Writers in Israel who want quality feedback on their writing can join Judy’s Friday morning workshop. It will meet every other Friday from 11 – 1 beginning October 3, 2010 at Judy’s home in Moshav Beit Zayit. The group is for writers working on stories, essays, book chapters and pieces in search of a genre. The group acts as a strong support system for writers struggling with on-going projects and a safe place to try new genres.

Writing Retreats
After working as a guide and events planner at Neot Kedumim, The Biblical Landscape Reserve, Judy integrated her love of writing with her love of biblical landscapes by developing Hike 'n Write. This half-day, then full day, program at Neot Kedumim, inspired by biblical texts and landscapes, spurred Judy to lead more ambitious retreats. Later, she offered two-day retreats at the Dead Sea, the Sea of Galilee, and in the Judean hills.
In 2004, Judy teamed up with Evan Fallenberg, a fine fiction writer (MFA Vermont College, author of Light Fell, published by Soho Press) and translator of Israeli literature—Meir Shalev, Alon Hilu, Batya Gur, etc.). Two or three times a year, Judy and Evan offer three-day writing retreats at various venues throughout Israel. These are a source of inspiration for everyone involved.
